Before each mission in Naval Tactics you will configure yourself a fleet of warships in the Shipyard. Each mission in Naval Tactics has a specific number of Fleet Configuration Points that can be used to set up your fleet. Before you get to the Shipyard you will have received your mission briefing and dealt out all Captain Cards. It is strongly advised that you keep that information in mind when creating your fleet!

Vanguard – 3rd Rate Ship of the Line

The “Vanguard” is the pride of the Navy in the Caribbean. Classified as a 3rd Rate Ship of the Line due to its heavy armament of 72 cannon on two gun decks, this is a beast of a warship. The “Vanguard” is equipped with a large amount of hull integrity, armor, and canvas. The Vanguard’s main downfalls are the lack of maneuverability and configurability. The Vanguard has three weights of cannon; 22lbs, 18lbs, and 9lbs.

Endeavor – Heavy Frigate

The “Endeavor” is a strong choice for any Captain. This heavy frigate packs a good number of 18 lbs cannon, allowing it to attack from a distance. For full firepower you will need to use its mobility to close in range of the rest of its cannon. The Endeavor is also quite configurable with three configuration slots. The Endeavor has two weights of cannon; 18lbs and 14lbs.

Constance – Frigate

The “Constance” is unique in its combination of mobility and large number of 14 lbs cannon decks. Unlike the larger ships in the fleet with gun decks of varying weights, all of the cannon on the “Constance” can hit at her max range. This means the Constance deals a deceptive amount of damage given her size and number of guns. The Constance a carries all 14lbs cannon.

Rebellious – Sleek Frigate

The “Rebellious” exchanges firepower and armor for speed and maneuverability. While its 36 cannon still pack a punch, its lack of armor and hull integrity makes the Rebellious a fantastic skirmish vessel. Try not to go broadside to broadside with the Rebellious; instead, use its maneuverability to stay out of the gun arcs of your opponent. The Rebellious has two weights of cannon; 14lbs and 9lbs.

Rover – Armed Merchantman

The “Rover” is a merchant vessel armed with some cannon for defense against pirates and privateers. While not as fast, maneuverable, or configurable as other ships, its high hull integrity makes it a cheap, yet sturdy, addition to your fleet. The Rover a carries all 9lbs cannon.

Bounty – Naval Cutter

The “Bounty” Naval Cutter may be small, but its maneuverability is unmatched among the ships of the fleet. Useful for scouting, blocking, and making clutch plays via Captain Cards, the “Bounty” is a great addition to any fleet composition. The Bounty a carries all 14lbs cannon.
